In Feng Shui, the Five Elements rule the selection of colors, shapes and materials.

The five elements are:

Wood

Fire

Earth

Metal

Shapes by Element

Water = waves and organic shapes

Wood = rectangles and vertical stripes

Fire = triangles, stars, suns, sharp angles

Earth = squares, horizontal rectangles, and checkered patterns

Metal = circles, spheres, polka dots
