Dining Room

Dining Room

The dining room is the area of your home that represents the life area called Health, Family and Community.

Clients often ask why the kitchen has not been designated as the area for health, since that is where food preparation happens.

The answer is this: in Feng Shui and other branches of ancient Asian healing arts, how you eat is more important than what you eat.

If you eat anywhere but in your dining room (or dining area) you probably are not eating well. Eating well means that you sit down to eat on a chair, at a table, to enjoy your food in good company.

You could be eating the best organic foods, prepared in the best ways, and combined perfectly with each other, but if you do it standing up, sitting on a bar stool, or in front of the TV or a computer, then you are not eating right.

It is during meals that families grow closer. Uplifting conversation is essential to good nutrition. A good meal is a meal where the soul is fed as much as the body.
